Reigning Miss Carnival queen Dananai Ratiozo Chipunza who did well at an international pageant recently, said she gets inspiration from Angeline Musasiwa. Musasiwa remains one of the most successful local models in international pageants after she came foruth at Miss World in 1994.

Chipunza came out seventh at the just-ended Miss Tourism International held in Putrajaya, Malaysia where 60 countries participated.

The stunning model, who arrived back home on Monday afternoon, also scooped the Brand Ambassador for Asia Metropolitan University prize, which entitles her to a scholarship at the renowned institution of higher learning, apart from being involved in promoting the university to other prospective students on the continent.

In addition, Chipunza came out third-placed in the Talent Show, in which she presented a stirring public speaking delivery which talked about heroic African personalities such as Nelson Mandela and Kwame Nkrumah, among others.

“I get so much inspiration from what Angeline Musasiwa achieved. She is one of my role models and I always work hard knowing that Zimbabwean models get top positions at international competitions,” said Chipunza.

“I am proud to have raised awareness of our country and especially the majestic Victoria Falls which is one of the seven wonders of the world,” said Chipunza upon her return.

Speaking at a welcome-back press conference, acting Zimbabwe Tourism Authority CEO, Givemore Chidzidzi expressed satisfaction at Dananai’s achievements saying she did the nation proud by representing Zimbabwe and coming back with the prizes she won.

“The mere fact of going there and participating at the pageant was achievement enough but coming out in the top 10 is cause for celebration because it’s not even every country in the world was represented there,” he said.

Angeli Dione Gomez from the Philippines was crowned 2013 Miss Tourism International while first runner-up position went to Sundiporn Srisuwan of Thailand.

Other winners were Miss Australia Sarah Czarnuch who was the second runner-up, Miss Dominican Republic Michelle Alexis Torres was third runner-up whilst Miss Malaysia Thaarah Ganesan came out fourth runner-up.

The 17th edition of the pageant was attended by hundreds of people including VIP’s, celebrities as well.
