DYNAMOS assistant coach Murape Murape says the clearout, which will see five players being offloaded when the mid-season transfer window opens today, was necessary to revive the Glamour Boys.

The Harare giants announced they were parting ways with strikers Evans Gwekwerere, Richard Kawondera and Farai Mupasiri while midfielder Walter Mukanga and Jimmy Dzingai have requested transfer letters.

Murape said they made the difficult decision because of pressure to get results after the team had made a poor start this year.

The former midfielder also said some senior players were no longer adding value to the team and they needed to bring in fresh talents to create competition and improve the quality of the team,” said Murape.

“Some of these guys had asked to leave and as for the others, I think it’s there for everyone to see the performance that they have been putting since the season started.

“We have seen that there is no improvement and we hope they can go somewhere else and start playing well.

“Sometimes the environment won’t be good for a particular player and if he can go to another team maybe he could start playing well.

“But as technical department we felt they were not doing enough to make Dynamos champions and to return to the top where we are used to.

“That’s why we are trying to make changes so that we create the competition that can give us results.”

Murape said playing for Dynamos was not easy.

“When you play for Dynamos you need to deliver, week in week out,” he said.

“There is no time for pampering each other for long because it’s a demanding club and that pressure has to be handled and make sure you deliver.

“Some of these guys were not delivering, they were not doing what is expected of Dynamos players. Hopefully they can get teams soon.

“We just wish them the best of luck in their new adventures. Releasing them doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world.

“For us here, we are only doing our job and our job demands us to get results. So the decision that we have taken I am sure it’s a positive decision on our side as well, as coaches, because we need to be getting results.”

Mukanga, who complained lack of game time, has since secured a short-term contract with newboys Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Defender Dzingai has been training with lower division side Yadah Stars owned by Prophet Walter Magaya for the past month.

Dynamos are expected to welcome back midfielder Denver Mukamba who returned from a four-year stint in South Africa.

Murape said the technical team will be moving to fill the gaps by roping in youngsters who include Midlands State University student Tawanda Macheka, Cedric Maruta and Addy Matope.

“We have been training with these youngsters for quite some time and I think it’s time we start introducing them bit by bit and hopefully they will be our stars in the future,” said Murape.

“We need them to get game time so that they get used to the team and how we want to play.

“I think the best way is to go to our junior policy and that’s where we are starting from now. So, as much as we will be working with our senior team, we will also be working with our juniors because we need to find players from our structures.

“If players have grown in the system and knowing our culture it will be easier for them to fit into the first team. That’s the route we are taking now but at the same time Dynamos is a team of results.

“So as much as we are introducing those youngsters we will be careful to take those who can give us results.

“We want to blend experienced players and youngsters because football these days also need pace, which we can only find in this young players.”
