DYNAMOS assistant coach Murape Murape has challenged his players to fight like true Glamour Boys when they meet Moses Chunga’s Harare City in a league match at Rufaro tomorrow afternoon. Speaking at a Press briefing at Motor Action Sports Club on Thursday, Murape said everyone should pull in the same direction for the Harare giants to get the results they want.

DeMbare go into the match seeking a first victory after six matches without a win. It appears there is unity of purpose at the club after the club’s leadership gave the technical team, headed by Lloyd Mutasa, more time.

Club president Kenny Mubaiwa also addressed the players after allegations of alcohol abuse and sabotage. Murape said tomorrow’s game against the Sunshine Boys was a big tie for his men. “It is like a Harare Derby. They got a good result last weekend and we didn’t but we just want to go there and enjoy our game and get three points at all cost.

“We have to play like Dynamos and fight like Dynamos. We are used to seeing supporters dancing in the terraces and even the players have to support each other. We are united as a team, confident in our abilities and we if we continue to do so results will come our way, but we can only achieve that if we have commitment and determination,” said Murape.

Last week, the technical team dropped a number of senior players, axing goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva, skipper Stephen Alimenda, striker Rodreck Mutuma and midfielder Denver Mukamba.

Murape said all the players have been training well and they will chose the final squad on merit. “We are judged by results and whoever is chosen we expect them to give us good results,” said Murape.

The former midfielder said he feels the media has not been fair on their assessment of the team which has clawed back into top eight. “The media wants to put pressure on Dynamos, talking about coaches feeling the heat and all the negative talk trying to put pressure on everyone yet everyone who knows football knows where we are coming from,” said Murape.

“We were on number 15, the way we look at it, it’s progress, but to you the media it’s not progress because it is Dynamos. We have played for Dynamos, we are experienced to know the pressure which comes with Dynamos.

“We will keep on fighting until the last day of the season and we will evaluate ourselves and whether we continue next season or we lose our jobs it’s not an issue because we are not the first people to coach Dynamos and we will not be the last. If the team fails to win the league title, it will not be the first team that has failed to win.”

Murape said there was need for players to raise the bar. “It is not a secret we don’t have great strikers and we are not scoring goals. “Some of the commitment being shown is not what we used to see when we were playing for the club.

“The only thing we hear from the corridors is some of the coaches phoning the executive for our jobs but people with DeMbare history really know that it is not something that is easy to win the league. “It requires hard working players with strong mentality and not players who are content with a draw,” said Murape.
