FORMER Dynamos midfielder Tawanda Muparati says he is looking to revive his career at How Mine after spending a frustrating season last year due to a nagging injury.

Muparati spent most of his time on the sidelines last season and failed to live up to expectations after being voted Soccer Star of the Year in 2013.

The 31-year old played cameo roles in Callisto Pasuwa’s Dynamos team on their way to the league championship.

But after winning four league titles and several silverware with DeMbare, Muparati decided against renewing his contract when it expired at the end of the year and decided to move on.

Muparati believes big things could be in store for him at his new home at How Mine after gaining full fitness.

“I was injured most of the time last season. So I couldn’t play to the best of my potential because of that. It was frustrating but now I think I am up and running.

“I was received well here by the players and the technical team. I am hoping to adjust well to my new home.

“I have set myself some realistic targets. It’s every player’s wish to achieve big things and I believe I will be able to follow my dream,” said Muparati.

Muparati will be joined by former DeMbare teammate Devon Chafa at How Mine.

There are high expectations at the club this year following a busy pre-season pronounced by heavy recruitment of players.

How Mine coach Luke Masomere has assembled a good machine after targeting some of the top players in the domestic league who include ex-CAPS United captain Tapiwa Khumbuyani, last year’s Golden Boot winner Charles Sibanda, goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya from Highlanders and Soccer Star of the Year runner-up Limited Chikafa from ZPC Kariba.

How Mine have since started preparing for the new season and will certainly be a team to watch this season.

Muparati believes the side will be competitive but remains cautious about their chances in the fight for the championship.

“I know it’s still early to talk about the season since we haven’t started playing the games yet but what I am sure of is that we will be competitive.

“All the teams want to be competitive and we will play every game like it’s a Cup final.

“That way, something big may happen to the team this year if we remain focused. I am not promising anything though, I can’t talk about the championship, it’s our secret,” said Muparati.
