Charles Munhumumwe, son of the late musician Marshal Munhumumwe is appealing to sponsors to assist him to take his father’s music further.
Munhumumwe who believes he is talented, said he was determined to revive his father’s musical career. In an interview, Munhumumwe said he has burning passion to keep his father’s legacy just like other sons of the legends are doing but his efforts are being affected by lack of resources.

“I have all what it takes to keep my father’s legacy like what Sulu (Chimbetu) and Peter (Moyo) are doing but it seems the promoters are mainly focusing on the already established artistes. I have tried to look for promoters but I am getting raw deals from them,

“My appeal is for promoters to consider the plight of upcoming musicians as we are facing a mammoth task when it comes to hosting live shows. I have been curtain-raising for Edson Nyamunda and have been receiving overwhelming response.

“If only I can get the chance to perform with some of these already established artistes, I am optimistic that the people of Zimbabwe will see that the legacy of my father can live on,” he added.

Munhumumwe who is currently performing only his father’s songs said he feels it is high time he records his own songs so that he can show his father’s fans that just like his father who was both a composer and singer he can follow the footsteps.

“I have already compiled six songs from the 35 I have written which are ready for recording but because of financial constraints, I am failing to get in the studio to record,” he  said.

Marshall Munhumumwe suffered a stroke in 1997, following a car crash. He was unable to continue to perform with the band and was replaced by Albert Ruwizhi.
Munhumumwe died in 2001 at the age of 49.
