The body politic, and discourse at large, has been captivated by speculation and permutations regarding Dr Joice Mujuru, leader of Zimbabwe People First and former Vice President.

With the 2018 elections beckoning, the debate can only accentuate.

The question therefore remains, what political amount is Joice Mujuru and what does she stand for?

Mujuru was the country’s mumber two until she was kicked out of the ruling party for her nefarious, power-hungry activities which centred on seeking to grab power through working with the opposition and the West.

She had an inner cabal within the party that she was effectively kicked out with.

After being booted out in 2014 Mujuru created ZimPF whose intention appeared from the onset was to fight Zanu- PF not MDC-T or any other political party within Zimbabwe.

The obvious overarching issue becomes that Mujuru and her cabal formed a political party because they had personal scores to settle with Zanu-PF and not because they have the wishes of the people at heart.

Mujuru is the proverbial leopard that will never change its spots.

Her record in Government since 1980 as minister in different portfolios and as Member of Parliament is as unremarkable as it is pathetic.

It is hardly conceivable that she will do any better given another chance – or in the unlikely event that she wins power on her own or in her renewed concert with Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T.

We have heard Mujuru talk about a BUILD (a catchphrase for her Blueprint to Unlock Investment and Leverage for Development): Build what? What have you built before?

Show us your previous work!

There is no need to mention Zimbabweans knows Mujuru has nothing to show.

Just ask the people of Dotito or the women of Zimbabwe who were supposed to be the first beneficiaries of her elevation in the 10 years to 2014 that she was VP of the Republic.

Mujuru is both dishonest and incompetent.

A year before she was thrown out of Zanu-PF, she claimed not to harbour any presidential ambitions.

Who was she trying to fool?

And Mujuru is surrounded by equally questionable characters.

A look at her ZPF team portrays a combination of dubious characters who have either looted the country’s resources dry or are totally clueless spent forces.

Her line-up is not inspiring even to the most elementary follower of politics: Didymus Mutasa, Rugare Gumbo, Sylvester Nguni, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, etc.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?

But some political analysts argue, or rather hope that Mujuru could indeed spring a surprise and achieve what the opposition failed to do in decades.

But the fact of the matter is President Mugabe is a dynamic leader, the icon of Africa who has served the country with distinction for the past 36 years; who can beat him? Nobody!

Mujuru, whose only claim to fame appears to be some questionable liberation credentials, including the mythical downing of a helicopter, should just ask Morgan Tsvangirai how it is hard to unseat President Mugabe who enjoys the support of the majority of Zimbabweans.

Tsvangirai attempted to dethrone Mugabe with the help of the Americans and the British but failed dismally.

They both are set to fail to move the mountain that is President Mugabe and Zanu-PF come 2018.

We hear and see some young people being tempted to join the ranks of ZimPF especially in Mashonaland East which has promised to be her stronghold thanks to the groundwork that was done by the likes of Ray Kaukonde who was part of her cabal.

Many bona fide youths look up to Zanu-PF and its revolutionary ideas that are life changing such as land reform and economic empowerment.

Zanu-PF is set to give youths urban residential stands.

Zanu-PF has winning – and governing – ideas. This is why the electorate will not be moved by anything from pretenders such as dubious pastors to political turncoats such as Joice Mujuru.
