Pakistan comedian Mr Pak Bean, real name Asif Muhammad, arrived in Zimbabwe on Monday ahead of comedy night that will be held at the Harare International Conference Centre on September 3.

The comedian who is a look-alike of British actor Rowan Atkinson who is the original Mr Bean, is in the country courtesy of Splash Paints.

He is expected to be at the stand of the painting company at the Harare Agricultural Show before embarking on several road shows, a trip to Mutare and a comedy show at HICC.

In an interview Mr Pak Bean said he was a follower of Atkinson.

“I am his follower though we have never met. I wish to meet him in one of the days,” he said.

The comedian who got a warm welcome in the country said he has travelled to more than 10 countries.

“For the ten countries I have toured now Zimbabwe has given me an overwhelming reception. They should look forward to a great show,” he said.

If an opportunity comes the comedian wishes to have joint shows with local comedians in Pakistan.

“It is good to be sharing stage with local comedians and that should create chances for them to perform in Pakistan. If an opportunity comes then we can have joint shows with them there,” he said.

He has been in the comedy industry for seven years and has also ventured into textile business.

“I have separate investments besides comedy. Artists should have separate businesses that complement their arts income,” he added.

At the Agric show fans will have chances to have pictures taken with the comedian.

“It is a great opportunity for me to meet Zimbabweans and that has been my wish to spread wings,” he said.

Splash Paints bosses said they were happy to host the comedian who will be their brand ambassador for the next years.

Last year the same company hosted one of the tallest men in the world at the Harare Agricultural Show.
