Zanu-PF legislator for Mhondoro-Ngezi Mike Gava (32) was remanded in custody on Saturday by a Kadoma magistrate for allegedly discharging his gun in public and kidnapping a woman from a bar in the town.
Gava will appear in court again tomorrow when a ruling on his bail application is likely to be made.

The State alleges that Gava fired a Star pistol in a Kadoma casino before force-marching an unidentified woman to his car at gunpoint while threatening to sexually assault her .

Gava allegedly brandished his gun several times in the casino and placed it on the table.

He allegedly “tested” the pistol by firing a shot at a window, sending patrons scampering for cover.

Gava then allegedly force-marched the female patron to his Ford Ranger at gunpoint and drove her to his farm in Kadoma.

It is said he disembarked from the vehicle and left the gun on his seat as he went looking for his house keys.

The woman hid the gun in the vehicle and ran away, but Gava allegedly noticed it and gave chase.

He caught up with her and assaulted her, before leaving her at the farm as he drove off, the court was told.

The woman reportedly called for a taxi and reported the case to the police.
