LONDON. — Jose Mourinho has taken another swipe at English football’s powerbrokers for damaging the country’s clubs’ chances in Europe.
The Chelsea boss was furious last season when the Premier League refused to alter his team’s live TV date — to allow them more time to prepare for a Champions League tie.
While most countries DO change league games to assist their teams in Europe, in England the needs of the broadcasters seem all-important.
Mourinho said: “The FA and the Premier League have to give a little more help to all of us.

“And the same goes for the television companies because some of their decisions are against the clubs competing in the Champions League.”
The Special One is sure the top flight is still the world’s best league – but says it should blow its own trumpet more.

Two-time Champions League winner Mourinho added: “We are not as proud as we should be and we don’t defend our league enough.
“How many clubs in other countries can spend £30million on a player like Everton just have? In Spain, only three. In Germany, only two. Portugal, zero. France, one and a half.

“The English Premier League is the best because there are world-class players at so many clubs.” — The Daily Star
