JOHANNESBURG. — Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says everyone at the club is upset with the constant booing of players, with Kingston Nkhatha again coming under fire on the weekend. Nkhatha was jeered for the umpteenth time by Amakhosi fans during the side’s 1-0 win over Chippa United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.

Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has made it clear he is tiring of the situation, saying straight after the game:

“I am very tired of it, I’m tired of it. Do I want to continue pushing at a club where you don’t know if your best players are going to be depressed because of it? Maybe the decision is I don’t want to be.”

Motaung told KickOff.com that the issue with the boo-boys is upsetting everyone in Naturena.

“Look, I didn’t hear the coach’s comments because I was at the stadium and didn’t see the TV interview.

“But everybody is upset with this constant thing and people who are doing it are not true Kaizer Chiefs supporters.

“We have already won one cup this season, we are doing well in the League so I don’t understand why our players have to be constantly subjected to this. We really need to address this because we are all disappointed.”

Baxter showed his displeasure at Nkhatha’s boo boys, but what is the Zimbabwean’s contribution?

Nkhatha has only scored one goal in the PSL this season, a poor record for a striker, however Baxter’s decision to persist with him is based on his overall contribution to Chiefs’ collective results.

The 29-year-old has featured in 15 of the Amakhosi’s 16 unbeaten league games this season, though has completed 90 minutes just once.

The Siya crew took a look through Chiefs’ 24 league goals this season and discovered that Nkhatha has been directly or indirectly involved with just under a third of them (7).

It appears that Baxter’s persistence with Nkhatha leading his line is due to his ability to ruffle the feathers of the opposition and open up spaces for his teammates rather than his personal goalscoring prowess.
