Morgan Dembo is now a solo artiste after several failed attempts by promoters and family members to unite him with his brother Tendai. Speaking during a joint show at Dandaro Inn that featured Leonard Zhakata and his brother Tendai, Morgan said he ignored requests to rejoin the Barura Express.

Instead of going on stage, Morgan was seen playing pool during the show.

“Family members and promoters tried but everything failed to work and I was left with no option but to start a solo project,” he said.

Morgan said Tendai snubbed all meetings aimed at resolving their differences.

He said he had laid the groundwork for the album that is expected to be on the market soon.

“I am going to use the same band for recording and later assemble my own band,” he said.

Tendai, however, rubbished Morgan’s claims saying he was not booted out of the band.

“He needs to reform and stop drinking beer so that we move forward,” he said.

The two worked together to revive their father’s legacy and released an album “Kutsika Matsimba” that was well received.

Music critics said the split came after Morgan’s scandals were exposed in the media.

Efforts by several promoters to bring them together were fruitless as the two traded allegations.

Last year, music promoter Patson Chimbodza failed to unite the brothers.

Tendai reportedly snubbed most of the meetings prompting Chimbodza to give up. Tendai is on record as saying that he will not work with his brother until the latter stops abusing alcohol, an unfortunate weakness that seriously compromises his professionalism.

“He (Chimbodza) gave up because Tendai would not show up at most of the meetings ,” said a source.
