Award-winning Afro- fusion band Mokoomba will rekindle their performances in Harare tonight with a show at Radost Platinum at Long Chen Plazza in Belvedere.
Radost Platinum manager Wanisai Mutandwa aka Mahwindo said they had decided to have the group performing at their venue for the first time after numerous requests.

“This is upon request from the people who come at the venue and we are looking forward to a great show,” she said.

She said this they were trying to bring in musicians from different genres.

“We are hosting different groups here and this time we have decided to have fun with Mokoomba a group that have thrilled many here and abroad,” she said.

The group was formed in 2001 but made their breakthrough in 2008 when they won the Music Crossroads Inter Regional Festival in Lilongwe, Malawi which presented them a chance to tour Europe and record an album.

The group released their album “Kweseka” a year later. Their second release “Rising Tide” in 2012 was rated as one of the best in the world.

The group has toured many parts in the world and have been performing well. Back home they have just started their mission to play in most parts of the country.

The group manager Marcus Gora said they were performing in different venues in and out of the capital.

“We are winning local fans gradually and the best way to do it is to increase our local shows and to play in different venues and towns,” he said.

“We have a busy tour schedule again this year but we will have many local shows when we are in the country and our focus now is to take our music to venues that we have not visited before.”
