Three alleged serial robbers who were arrested after police tracked their phone calls have appeared before a Mbare magistrate. Tafadzwa Aldrain Bangure (29), Jabulani Moyo (24) and Robert Ndebele (27), all of Budiriro, were this past week denied bail by magistrate Ms Jacky Munyonga.

It is alleged that on a night sometime in December 2013, the trio waylaid a motorist along High Glen Road in Harare and smashed the front passenger window. The driver stopped the car and attempted to flee on foot.

The court heard that two of the accused gave chase and when they caught up with the man, they slashed his face with knives before ransacking his car.

They allegedly got away with goods worth US$1 600, including a cellphone.
When he made a police report, cops followed a phone track and on January 20 they traced the device to Shamva.
The person found with the phone referred the police to someone who he said had sold it to him.

The seller in turn implicated the accused.
The court also heard that the trio was implicated in a number of robberies that had occurred around High Glen Shopping Centre.
