The much-hyped Mafikizolo gig had a string of surprises amid poor planning of the show that was well-attended.

With Zimbabwe and South Africa’s best performers Mafikizolo, KO, Jah Prayzah and Winky D, a lot was expected from the organisers.

Fans had to fork out $20 for the VIP section that was not different from the rest of the ground.

Only the VVIP section had a good set up with complimentary meals coming their way.

Show organiser Dee Nosh of 2 Kings Entertainment said the ground has different sections and the VIP section was okay.

Performers played their part and put up a thrilling show though some of the artistes struggled to cope with the poor sound system.

Winky D warmed the stage for the visiting artistes and the musician did his best to keep fans on the dance floor.

He sampled two songs believed to be on his coming album much to the delight of the fans.

Songs that can be roughly called “Twenty Five” and “Babe Idya Mari” had catch lines that drew the attention of merrymakers.

It is yet to be seen if the album will match the standards of “Gafa Life”.

He had energy throughout his performance and old hits proved to be popular as people sang along.

South African rapper KO real name Ntokozo Mdluli took the stage after Winky D and managed to keep the momentum.

The crowd was familiar with most of his songs, giving him a smooth run on the stage.

He took the chance to thank fans for supporting his video “Caracara” that is making waves in southern Africa.

Mafikizolo took to the stage and managed to keep the momentum though they played their usual songs.

Songs “Khona” and “Ndihambe Nawe” were on their playlist that managed to warm merrymakers.

All was not rosy for the last performer Jah Prayzah.

He struggled to cope up with the PA system and songs from his album “Mudhara Vachauya” failed to keep the momentum.

The musician played the fifth song on his slot in almost half-empty venue.

However, Nosh said it was unfair to talk about the technical glitches when they made an extra effort to have the gig go ahead as planned.

“We almost cancelled the show after a message circulating that activists will disrupt it and we had to double the security as well as making efforts to communicate with merrymakers,” he said.
