Whoever wins the Miss Zimbabwe 2014 title will become an ambassador of the National Defence College on the outskirts of Harare, Miss Zimbabwe Trust chairperson Marry Chiwenga has said.
Speaking during a tour of the recently built National Defence College by this year’s finalists, Chiwenga said the would-be queen would work tirelessly to raise the flag of ZDF at various platforms.

“We want to educate our girls on the roles of our defence forces.

“They need to have an understanding of the personnel and that they are friendly and disciplined people who can be emulated in the society.

“The girl to be crowned this year will have the task of showcasing this even at the Miss World finals in London,” she said.

The delegation from Miss Zimbabwe was received by top officials who gave presentations on the NDC and operations of the military.

Among them was the feminism theory, presented by Air Commodore Dumba that recognises empowerment of women as a tool for stabilising and developing societies.

The tour paved way for another visit at a conservatory in Macheke over the weekend.

Meanwhile, preparations for the Miss Zimbabwe pageant that is scheduled to take place on June 17 at Mabvazuva Village are on course.

After two years in hibernation, the pageant’s organisers are keen on making the pageant more glamorous and prestigious than ever.

“We have made improvements to ensure that the pageant stands out from the rest.

The ground work has been laid for the last few months and at this stage I am confident that we are on point,” said Chiwenga.

She said in an effort to purge the growing trend of beauty without brains in local pageants, the organisers had made efforts in recruiting mostly university students to bay for the title.

“We are using world class standards in terms of requirements for the entire pageant.

“This also includes weight, height and appearance,” she said.
