Caren Chimoyo was crowned Miss Utakataka at the inaugural pageant held at Airport Lounge on Saturday night.
The event, which was held together with Peter Moyo’s 25th birthday celebrations, saw Tyra Muropa and Thelma Ndumure being crowned first and second princess respectively.
The three, who are from a local modelling agency called Size 4, took the crowns ahead of more than 20 contestants that took part in the pageant.
Chimoyo said she was honoured to be crowned Miss Utakataka 2014 ahead of all models that participated.

“It is an honour. This modelling show is unique and I would like to congratulate Peter Moyo for successfully hosting such a prestigious event,” she said.
After the beauty show revellers were entertained by Moyo and his Utakataka Express.

The birthday boy gave a spirited performance belting out his late father’s yesteryear hits such as “Murudo”, “Ndinogara Ndichichema”, “Muchina Muhombe” and “Nemumvura Mese” among others.

Some of the songs from his debut album “Mushonga Mukuru” kept revellers on their toes during the night.
Popular promoter Josh Hozheri, Radost Platinum manager Wanisai “Mahwindo” Mutandwa helped the musician to cut the cake that was designed in a guitar shape.

Other artistes who graced the event included BaShupi and sungura musician Howard Pinjisi. Moyo said he did not expect such a big crowd to celebrate his birthday.
“I just thought it would be a small event but I have realised how people love my music,” he said.

He said he would continue to introduce a number activities to honour his fans.
“What I want to tell you is that we will introduce a number of activities to honour and entertain our beloved fans,” he said.

The musician’s manager, Sukol Dube, said they would continue with the celebrations and on Friday they will be playing in Gokwe while on Saturday they perform in Kwekwe before sharing the stage with Extra Kwazvose in Chakari on Sunday.
