THE Mighty Warriors were back in training yesterday and their technical department says they want an early goal against Zambia in the African Women Championship reverse tie in Lusaka on Sunday.
The team is carrying a 0-1 deficit and their preparations were disrupted by a strike staged by the players on Tuesday.
zifa chief executive, Jonathan Mashingaidze, and board member Fungai Chihuri, addressed the players at the zifa Village on Tuesday and promised that they will be paid today.

Yesterday, coach Rosemary Mugadza, named her final team, which is expected to leave today for Zambia.
The squad is largely unchanged from the team which hosted Zambia a fortnight ago, except for the absence of gangly defender Ruvimbo Mutyavaviri, who is injured.

Also dropped from the final 18 are defenders Danai Bhobho, Kudzanai Chiparaushe, Tafadzwa Tsunguro, Talent Mbepo and goalkeeper Manyara Mandara. Johannes Chikaola, the team’s assistant coach, who was in charge in the first leg at Rufaro in the absence of head coach, said they are ready for She-polopolo.

“We want to score an early goal and unsettle them in their own backyard. We have worked on the weaknesses we noticed in the first game,” said Chikaola.
“We noticed we were second on the ball and not that sharp. So, at training, we have been addressing some of these weaknesses and we also got an opportunity to watch the footage of the match and every player now understands what we are saying and what we want to do in Lusaka.

“We have done everything as coaches and it is now up to the players to deliver.
“We hope we will travel early and rest so that we fully utilise Thursday and Friday’s training in Lusaka. We want to be compact and contain their number 11 (Kabange Mupopo) who is the only player who is effective in their team.”
