UNITED States-based Zimbabwean make-up artist, Jackie Mgido, continues to write her history in the world of fashion as she continues to get international recognition. She features in the current edition of esteemed magazine, Forbes Woman Africa, a title under the globally popular Forbes Magazines. Forbes Magazine is one of the world’s respected sources of information, and commands a wide readership which spans across time lines, readership zones and age limits.

It is reputable for its reliability in terms of news coverage, which covers the areas of business, politics, sports, entertainment and other areas.

Again recently the popular Canadian media HuffPost Style, Editor’s pick, chose Vault Lipstain.

“I can confidently say I have found my new go-to lipstick. Well, it’s not actually a lipstick, it’s a lip stain. And it hails from Africa. From an array of different coloured lip stains, I chose a burgundy, brownish-red colour called Harare. But I didn’t apply it right away. Instead, I watched other editors in the office swipe their chosen colours across their pouts and shriek in delight at the results. The colours were vibrant and bold, all the things you would want in a lip product. “It’s matte!” I was told,” read the post from HuffPost

The Zimbabwe-born and Hollywood based make-up- beauty and fashion guru rubbed off stiff contenders from various parts of the world like flies after the editors of the magazine saw her fit to be face behind this glossy and fashion-conscious magazine.

It is a feat that is poised to serve as a major source of inspiration not only to other Zimbabweans in the sector but to a large extent other African women who are into the beauty, make-up as well as fashion world.

The Vault Cosmetics owner, who has worked with top Hollywood celebrities like Cuba Golding Jnr, Snoop Dog and Whiz Khalifa, said she was over the moon after featuring in the magazine.

“It is a great honour to be selected to feature in the magazine which as you know, is one of the leading publications.

For someone from Zimbabwe to be considered, shows that we are indeed doing a great job,” she said from her US base.

Added Jackie: “I would like to dedicate this honour to my family in Zimbabwe, to Zimbabwe as a nation, while the people I have worked with along this long journey also deserve kudos.

“The Hollywood guys are very supportive and I hope this will take us far, because God wants us to do so.”

This honour is part of a long list of achievements that Jackie has scored for herself.

Last year, she scooped the African Woman Award. The awards were aimed at celebrating the inroads and successes that African women have made it on the world map; she was voted in the Dynamic Start-up Business Award and rubbed stiff competition from the likes of Nigerian Ngozi Opara – founder of Heat Free Hair – and Yasmin Belo-Osagie and Afua Ose founders of She Leads Africa.

As usual, she was went to dedicate the award to fellow women and family members and Zimbabwe.

“We won for the Dynamic Start up Business recognition. I am feeling super blessed and humbled. I want to thank God and to my Khetani, my team, family, friends and the Vault Family. They are making this happen,” read a post on her official Facebook account.

She founded Vault Cosmetics Zimbabwe in 2012, apart from being involved in various outreach programmes in the high-density suburb of Mbare.
