Divine Kureva was crowned the Miss Rural Seke at a beauty pageant held at Madangure Hotel in Seke to mark the re-launch of Miss Rural Zimbabwe. The competition fizzled out some years ago and Cool Lifestyle hopes that this new edition will be free of the girl child abuse allegations levelled against its predecessor. Kureva walked away the title after a stiff competition from 23 other beauties from Seke District who whose ages ranged from 15 to 22 years. Cool Lifestyle writer Sophia Chese (S.C) was on hand to with celebrate Divine (D.K) and bring her to the pages of the teen paper.

Sophia Chese: Congratulations for being crowned Miss Rural Seke

D.K: Thank You

S.C: How old are you?

D.K: I have just turned 16, the day before the pageant was my birthday, I was born on October 9 1999.

S.C: What are you currently up to?

D.K: I am in Form 3 at a local private college here in Seke.

S.C: What was your first break in the industry?

D.K: This is actually my first time to contest in a pageant of this magnitude and it has always been my dream that one day I will become a professional model though I believe I was born a model.

S.C: Did you face any challenges when you decided to venture into modelling in light of the traditional perspective that modelling is a western thing that dilutes our culture as Zimbabweans?

D.K: To tell you the truth it was not easy. Starting with my family, my own father did not approve of it and my mother spent sleepless nights quarrelling with my father about it.

She respected my choice and wanted me to follow a career that was in my heart. On the other hand my father was of the belief that only education is the broom to sweep the way to success but nevertheless I thank God that at last he allowed me to take part in the launch of the Miss Rural Beauty pageant and I won.

S.C: What is your dream in modelling?

D.K: My dream is to become Miss Zimbabwe and I would like to thank the organisers of this pageant for laying the foundation for me. I am not going back on modelling and I know I will get there.

S.C: You are now Miss Rural Seke, meaning fame has knocked on your door while you are in form 3, how are you going to balance the demands of your dream and your school work?

D.K: I believe modelling and school go hand in hand, I don’t want to be a beauty without brains so I will keep on focusing with my school work at the same time balancing it with my duties as the princess of Seke as Chief Seke has said. (chuckles).

S.C:Any words of wisdom to other teens out there who have passion for modelling but are having difficulties in penetrating the industry?

D.K: Remain focused and no matter the challenges never lose hope.
