Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) in partnership with Institute of Marketing Management (IMM), is hosting the largest and most dynamic gathering of marketers in Africa, Marketing Interface 2015.

This convergence of marketing professionals is set to attract about 200 marketers from across the business fraternity. For the first time this year, the conference will allow local marketers to interface with regional counterparts, as it is being held in Johannesburg from the 4th- 7th of November, at the Indaba Hotel and Conference Centre in Fourways.

Events such as these not only offer marketers a chance to escape their hectic schedules, but open up opportunities to enhance their careers, by rubbing shoulders with industry experts.

They also provide a platform for the sharing of branding knowledge with other marketers.

The conference is running under the theme “Captivating the consumer in times of change: Inspiring Market Development in Africa”.

According to a McKinsey report,Africa’s consumer-facing industries are expected to grow by $400 billion by 2020, representing the continent’s largest business opportunity.

Local marketers can therefore take advantage of this expanding market by captivating consumers both locally and regionally.

Captivating consumers requires a real-time and data driven approach that can be easily adapted toward the constantly evolving needs of your consumers.

This is also best derived from continuous research. Due to high costs, fragmented audiences, and cluttered environments, marketers are finding it increasingly difficult to reach key target markets and therefore have to be innovative and proactive by utilising data and metrics to come up with the best strategies.

The main speaker at the conference is Professor Malcolm H. B. McDonald. He was listed as one of the UK’s Top Ten Business Consultants by The Times.

In addition to being chairman of 6 companies, he is currently an Emeritus Professor at Cranfield, a Visiting Professor at Henley, Warwick, Aston and Bradford Business Schools.

He is regarded as one of the world’s foremost authorities on strategic marketing, market segmentation, sales and strategic/key account management.

A literacy genius, he has written over 45 books on the subject of marketing, including the best seller “Marketing Plans; how to prepare them; how to use them”, which has sold over half a million copies worldwide.

Thirty years of researching the subject of marketing has equipped him to assist many of the world’s leading organisations enhance their profit, by being more market driven.

From the region, a well-known and respected African marketing personality, Helen McIntee will be one of the speakers. She is a published author, lecturer and keynote speaker. She qualified with BA, MBA and CPM degrees. She is also the president of the African Marketing Confederation (AMC) and a director of the IMM.

From the local pool of experts, president of the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), Busisa-Moyo will also be one of the speakers.

In addition to this, he is the chief executive officer of United Refineries Limited, one of the largest cooking oil expressing and soap manufacturing companies in Zimbabwe.

Dr Shingi Munyeza will be on the panel of speakers. A visionary leader endowed with diverse skills, he is an accountant by training, a marketer by passion and an hotelier by calling.

He is the former Group Chief Executive of African Sun Limited, a pan-African hotel group.

Another speaker to look forward to is Edna Mukurazhizha. She is the former managing director of Banc Easy.

She successfully set up an asset management at ZABG in 2004, as well as at BancABC in 2010 which currently commands the largest market share in Zimbabwe.

She is an author and has been awarded the ZNCC Women in Enterprise Award Runner-Up, Zimbabwe Top Female Manager and Zimbabwe Top Outstanding Manager Award by Megafest.

Attendees of the convention will be treated to a tour of SABMiller, one of the leading beer experts in the world. Another highlight of the conference is a tour of Soweto, a vibrant township well worth visiting.
