RISING jazz star Munyaradzi Mutaruse is set to unleash his second album “Pashangara” at Jazz 105 tonight. The musician, who was groomed by Oliver Mtukudzi, said the 14-track album will enhance his gradual rise to the ranks of jazz music in the country.He promised fireworks on stage and encouraged all his fans to come and support him.

“l am happy that the day has finally come and all my fans should come in their numbers to enjoy what l will be offering them.

“l want to thank them for their continual support in all the shows I hold every time,” said the 25 year old musician.

The album title “Pashangara” refers to a popular dance in Masvingo.

“I chose this title because my popular dance is called ‘shangara’ which is dominant in Masvingo, my fans should watch out for it tomorrow,” he said.

All songs on the album deal with social issues including love, relationships and social cohesion and are written in Shona.

The track “Vanhu Vafare” off the album features Tryson Chimbetu and Ba Shupi.

Artistes expected to perform during the launch include the superstar Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, Alick Macheso, Ba Shupi, Alexio Kawara and Diana Samkange.

His outfit recorded a debut album under Pakarepaya label entitled “Denguremhodzi” in 2011.

Mataruse’s Kazevezeve Band was formed in 2005 at Pakare Paye Arts Centre which is an arts organisation formed and managed by “Tuku” .

His music has a unique blend of styles ranging from afro jazz, shangara, katekwe and jiti (the local traditional Zimbabwean genres).

The musical sound is recognisable with intensely catchy Zimbabwean melodies and smooth vocals.

With the help from Pakare Paye Arts Centre Mataruse has managed to do numerous performances to school-based audiences and festivals like Harare Jazz Festival.
