The Zanu-PF Masvingo provincial leadership has said it will abide by the Politburo’s decision that cleared suspended provincial secretary for the Commissariat Cde Jappy Jaboon and reinstated him to his position.

Cde Jaboon was last Wednesday absolved of any wrong-doing by the Politburo after he was suspended from his post by the ruling party provincial executive.

He was suspended over allegations of insubordination and fomenting divisions in the party, among other charges.

After that, Cde Jaboon’s post was temporarily taken over by Cde Benjamin Masosota, in an acting capacity.

Masvingo Zanu-PF provincial chairperson Cde Ezra Chadzamira yesterday said the ruling party would abide by the Politburo’s decision on Cde Jaboon.

“We cannot oppose what the Politburo would have said because it is the highest decision making body of the party outside congress,” he said.

“We will abide by what they directed on Cde Jaboon’s case.’’ Cde Chadzamira said Cde Masosota reverted to his original post as secretary for Science and Technology Development in the Masvingo provincial executive.

Cde Jaboon could not be reached for comment over his absolution and subsequent reinstatement.

Analysts said the ruling party was now supposed to work in unison and focus on preparing for next year’s harmonised elections.

Cde Chadzamira said the main target of the party in Masvingo was to retain all the 26 House of Assembly seats that were won in 2013 polls by the ruling party, while also making sure President Mugabe secured a crushing victory in the Presidential polls.

Zanu-PF annihilated the opposition in Masvingo in the 2013 elections and swept all the National Assembly seats, thereby reclaiming the province’s acclaimed status of being a Zanu-PF stronghold.
