Marlborough reveller shaves dreadlocks, burns them at bar entrance

Two Marlborough men in Harare were brought to court for being a nuisance in a bottle store with one of them shaving his dreadlocks in the bar before burning them at the entrance. The owner of Sayfen Bottle Store (Pvt) Ltd, Mr Douglas Marawa, was represented by his lawyer Tsungirayi Chiminya of Lawman Chimuriwa law firm.

Marawa applied for a peace order against Wellington Matsvororo of number 16 Adylin Road in Marlborough and Nash Mutize of number 29 New Mapereke Road in New Marlborough.

The two were said to be in the habit of disturbing the peace at Sayfen Bottle Store. “Each time they come to the bar they disturb the peace of our customers who also come to buy beer in the bottle store.

“These two shout at employees and even our customers using vulgar language, even threatening them,” she said. At one point Matsvororo jumped on top of a snooker table and started shouting at the top of his voice leading to people running out of the bar, she said.

“This is disturbing our business as some customers have already stopped coming to buy drinks at the bar.
“We tried to reason with the pair but they indicated that Marlborough was their hood and if we were not happy we should leave the place,” she said. At one point

Mutize assaulted the bottle store employee and the matter was reported at Marlborough police station.
Mutize did not attend court.

In his response Matsvororo told the court that they failed to prepare their opposing papers because they lacked legal advice and money.
He, however, consented to the granting of the protection order.

Magistrate Ms Tendai Rusinahama ordered the pair to stop assaulting or insulting and threatening the bottle store employees.
They were also ordered to stay away from the bottle store.
