All is set for the vacant World Boxing Council international welterweight bout between Zimbabwe’s Charles Manyuchi and Ghana’s Patrick Allotey at the 3000 seater Government Complex tonight. The match is scheduled to start at 9pm.
The tournament is being hosted in memory of the WBC late president Jose Sulaiman, South Africa’s late President, Nelson Mandela and Zambia’s Lottie Mwale who fought the first WBC fight for Zambia in 1990.

It also features supporting bouts from three Zimbabweans namely Monalisa Sibanda, Takudzwa Kuchocha and Chamunorwa Gonorenda.
Sibanda will fight Lolita Muzeya (welterweight), while Kuchocha will fight Mbiya Kanku of DRC in the welterweight category.

Gonorenda will battle Donald Kampamba in the light heavy weight division.
Manyuchi, an African Boxing Union champion, will face Allotey who holds the WBC silverweight international belt.

Weighing 66.5kgs Manyuchi will face an opponent who has an unbeaten record of 29 fights.
The Masvingo-bred boxer has fought 14 times managing 11 victories and two losses and a single draw. But the odds are however stacked high for the Zimbabwean pugilist who has a supporting Zambian crowd to cheer him up. this is contrast to his Ghanaian opponent who has not yet had the opportunity to expose himself to the foreign ring, as all his fights have been at home in Accra.
