HARARE City coach Taurai Mangwiro says his team will guard against the mistakes that cost them points in their opening match against a newly-promoted team as they travel to Whawha on Good Friday.

Mangwiro yesterday said his team was still being haunted by the 1-0 home defeat by Tsholotsho in their opening game of the season.

Harare City notched up a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Chicken Inn at the weekend.

This week they introduced two training sessions per day to ensure they are ready for the challenge.

“We had a double session and we are training twice again tomorrow (today),” said Mangwiro.

“We got off to a false start and then we made amends in the match against Chicken Inn at the weekend.

“I am sure we drew big lessons from the home defeat to Tsholotsho. If ever we had thought of underrating any team, then we should change our mindset.

“Results from the opening two rounds of this year’s championship have shown that no team is in the league to add numbers. It promises to be very competitive this year.

CAPS United open the packed Easter programme away at How Mine. Defending champions Dynamos will also be looking to build on their good start when they host new-boys Dongo Sawmill at Rufaro on Friday.

Winless Hwange will be hoping to turn the tables on giants Highlanders when they welcome the Bulawayo side at the Colliery.

Hwange coach Nation Dube yesterday said they were praying for a clean bill of health.

“I have a number of players who are limping and we are monitoring them. We are also hoping that Pritchard Mpelele will have recovered fully by Friday from chicken pox. The opening games of the season are always tricky but that is when you get to see your weaknesses and how you need to improve on those.

“The guys know what they need to do and they had demonstrated that against ZPC Kariba in our last match,” said Dube.
