a house left by their late father.
Family relatives who declined to be named said Benson Zvikaramba (28) and Zivanai Zvikaramba (44) always had arguments over who was supposed to collect and use rentals from tenants at the Glen View 1 house.
The brawls reportedly started after the pair’s father died a few years ago and relatives who tried to intervene always took sides.
On Monday, during one those fights, Zivanai stabbed Benson using a kitchen knife and he died from the injuries he sustained.
Monday’s argument reportedly started after they returned from their sister’s funeral in Kuwadzana and were both drunk. Zivanai accused Benson of having an affair with his wife, Sibonisiwe Mpofu before he temporarily retired to bed.
He locked himself up in his bedroom and Benson asked Sibonisiwe to tell her husband to come out.
Benson star-ted accusing Sibonisiwe of shielding Zivanai. A fight ensued between Sibonisiwe and Benson.
Zivanai got out wielding a kitchen knife and he started fighting his brother.
“They started fighting and they both got outside the house. I could not come out to stop the fight because my husband ordered me not to come out.
“After he stabbed Benson, he went to his room to sleep leaving him lying on the pavement with blood gushing out from his chest.
“No-one tried to call for help and many thought it was their usual arguments,” Sibonisiwe said.
She said neighbours looked on when they were fighting and the lodgers did not attempt to come out to stop in the fight.
He was stabbed at around 6pm and police came to pick his corpse on Tuesday around 8 am.
Zivanai was arrested at the house and was taken to Glen View Police Station for questioning.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Andrew Phiri, on Tuesday confirmed the incident. “We confirm that two Glen View brothers were involved in a fight and as a result the older brother stabbed his young brother after accusing him of dating his wife.
“We took the suspect Zivanai and investigations are still underway,” Supt Phiri said.
He said people should not take the law into their hands but should rather seek advice from elders.
