Man gives wife $3 for groceries

A woman last week left the court in stitches when she accused her husband of giving her $3 to buy groceries each month.

Tsitsi Duri claimed Felix Matongorere, who is a security guard, was in the habit of threatening to shoot her with his service pistol.

Duri made the revelations at the Harare Civil Court where she was seeking a protection order against Matongorere whom she was accusing of breaching her peace.

“He gives me only $3 and expects me to buy groceries that last for the whole month”, she said.

Duri told magistrate Mr Trevor Nyatsanza that Matongorere was also in the habit of physically and verbally abusing her.

“Sometimes I go to my parents’ house to ask for food because he doesn’t buy anything and when I come back he starts accusing me of having extra-marital affairs,” said Duri.

Duri claimed Matongorere was chasing her out of their matrimonial house to pave way for his girlfriend.

Matongorere denied the allegations levelled against him by Duri and accused her of coming home during odd hours.

Mr Nyatsanza granted the order in Duri’s favour which barred Matongorere from verbally or physically abusing her.
