It is produced by Malope herself and Artistry Talent Management. “In the play I will be performing the current version of myself. We are still going to visit all nine provinces in search of a young talented girl that will be playing the younger version of me.” Malope said she cast herself because she knew her story better than anyone else.Noluthando, her manager, said the stage show will be staged for the first time at the Big Top Arena of Carnival City, east of Johannesburg in December, with plans to tour the country next year.

Malope’s biography is also set to be released next year.

Yesterday Malope also announced that she had bagged a lucrative endorsement deal as the ambassador for Ariel washing powder.

A statement from the manufacturer said Malope was chosen because she was the embodiment of what the brand stood for, which is women’s empowerment, determination and making the impossible possible.

At age 18, Malope left her home at Kanyamazane, Mpumalanga, in 1986 with her sister in search of stardom.

The siblings hiked 400km to Johannesburg where Malope entered the then Shell Road to Fame talent search competition, but was unsuccessful. She re-entered in 1987 and this time won the best vocalist title.

Today she boasts one of the most successful and highly decorated careers as a gospel singer and a television personality.

Malope told Sowetan that she was elated about the appointment.

“I was home when I received the call. My daughter Thando, who’s my manager, was the one who answered. The house was filled with screams and excitement when the news landed. I was over the moon,” she said.

“Looking at my trials and tribulations, who knew I’d be the face of one of the biggest brands? This is a testimony that in life you never give up. People must always be positive and believe in themselves.” – Sowetan Live.
