Gospel musician Wencilus Makungisa who made his name at Zimpraise Choir believes his new album “Mvura Yakawanda” has marked the beginning of a successful solo career.

In an interview, Makungisa who is widely known as Wency Mupositori said he is happy with the way things are going. He has created a brand and signature of his own by popularising the mapostori type of music in a trendy and modern way which appeals to many people.

To compliment his type of music he dresses in the vapostori regalia and gyrates.

“Though I am still at Zimpraise choir, my new album has opened doors because I am now invited to different functions in my own capacity,” he said.

He said the album is a prayer that we receive enough rains and be a blessed country.

“I wrote this song ‘Mvura Yakawanda’ as a prayer to the nation and my wish is to have such songs until we are answered,” he said.

He says that his relationship with Zimpraise remains excellent. He penned two songs “Weminana” and “Musandikanganwe” for the choral group and they did well on the local charts.

“Zimpraise is a group that has managed to nurture me and to date we still learn a lot while we are still there,” he said.

He has already started live performances and recently he performed at the Green Concert where he was among the musicians who managed to bring life to the poorly organised event where patrons were restive after the headline acts failed to pitch up.

“I believe God will pave way for me as I have seen people dancing to songs on the album at most events we perform,” he said.

“My mission is to minister the gospel through music and I am encouraged by the positive feedback I have received so far,” said Mupostori.

The artiste believes that God has bigger plans for Zimbabwe and people need to pray for it.

“Mvura in this instance might mean rains or blessings so that whatever we are planning as a nation becomes a success.”
