MIGHTY Warriors striker Rutendo Makore says she is happy to be back in the team as the senior women side regroups today at Bindura University of Science Education for their Olympic Games preparations.

Makore, who last featured for the Mighty Warriors last October during the Olympic Games qualifier tie against Cameroon, has been on the sidelines since January due to an injury. She missed the Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania and Zambia in March and April.

The Black Rhinos player is part of a 25-member squad expected to troop into camp today in Bindura.

“I am now okay. I was out for three months before I started training with my club at the end of April. So I have been training,” said Makore.

“I know the big challenge ahead of us in Brazil, so I have been working hard.

“As a team I believe everyone who knew that they have a mission was training wherever they were. And going into the camp we need to work hard.

“We just need to listen to our coaches and do our best as players. I know we are going to do our best,” said Makore.

Erina Jeke and goalkeeper Chido Dzingirai are back into the fold.

Rudo Neshamba, whose two goals against Cameroon powered the Mighty Warriors to the Olympic Games, is also back having missed the Zambia tie in April and the friendly match against South Africa last month. Neshamba has been struggling with a persistent knee injury.

Mighty Warriors coach Shadreck Mlauzi said they were now on the final stretch in preparations for the Olympics.

However, it’s not going to be an easy task for the Mighty Warriors who will be making their maiden appearance at the Games as they will face tough opponents in the form of two-time World Cup champions, Germany, Canada and Australia in Group F.

Germany are second on the FIFA world rankings while Australia are fifth. Canada are sitting on position 10 and Zimbabwe, ranked 93 are the lowest ranked team in the Group.
