At least 40 000 people gave their lives to Christ over the past one-and-a-half weeks as United Family International Church Founder Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa launched a wave of crusades in Harare, a journey that took him to Highfield, Mbare and Mabvuku.

The Mabvuku event ends today.

Prophet Makandiwa’s message centred on righteousness and reconciliation to Jesus Christ.

The crusades, meant to harvest souls for the kingdom of God, were also followed by many miracles, signs and wonders as God demonstrated His power through Prophet Makandiwa.

Thousands of people that had afflictions ranging from disability, homosexuality, terminal illnesses, blindness, problems of alcoholism and addiction to smoking, among others, were also given a new lease of life after they were prayed for.

First was the Highfield crusade, held from last Thursday to Saturday at the Zimbabwe Grounds. It attracted an average 52 000 people a day.

The three-day event saw 8 278 people give their lives to Christ while thousands were healed from various afflictions in a manner that has left the suburb talking about the power of God endlessly.

Highfield East Member of Parliament Psychology Maziwisa, a member of UFIC, was quoted as saying that he had seen the hand of God move in an awesome manner in his constituency.

Mbare, a suburb known largely as a hive of crime and prostitution, saw at least 70 000 people attend the crusade daily at Chishawasha grounds, with 17 822 of them giving their lives to Christ.

“Swams of people responded to the altar call and gave their lives to Christ while many that had lived as homosexuals, robbers and even murderers sought salvation in Jesus Christ,” said an observer who attended the crusade in Mbare.

At least 47 000 people attended the first night of the three-day crusade in Mabvuku on Thursday, with 5 400 receiving Christ on the night.

UFIC spokesperson Pastor Prime Kufa said the crusades demonstrated the power of God in a special way.

“The aim of the crusades as shown by the theme: Harvesting Souls For The Kingdom, was to bring people to Christ by showing them the love of their Creator.

“Numerous healing from various ailments took place. The crippled walked, the deaf had their ears opened and the blind saw. A number of people came on their deathbeds and were healed,” he said.

On Thursday night a woman whose pregnancy was overdue was prayed for and delivered a baby boy at Mabvuku Clinic soon after the prayer.

Pastor Kufa said the three crusades were just the first leg of crusades that will cover all areas in Harare and other parts of the country.

Over the past few years UFIC has held crusades in Chitungwiza, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, Hwange, Chiredzi, Zvishavane, Kwekwe and Gweru.

What also baffled many, some of them who took the discussion to the social media, was the manner with which the crusades were held without any incidents of stampede or violent commotion despite the large numbers.

“This is really amazing. Makandiwa is something else I tell you. How is it that there was so much order. I have been following all the crusades and there have been no single incident of commotion or disorder. I now believe that the power of God is real,” said a social commentator on Facebook.

Many expressed the same sentiments as they acknowledged that indeed Zimbabwe was blessed with men that were mightily used of God.
