Gospel musician Tatenda Mahachi was yesterday appointed ambassador of Care At The Care Of Humanity (CATCH), a private voluntary organisation. The organisation serves to ensure that children are safe and are able to get rehabilitation when they get abused or when they commit offences. CATCH chief executive officer Maxwell Chambari said they saw the potential in Mahachi to carry their message to the people.

“We saw it fit to appoint Mahachi because he has a good following and passion for children.
“He is capable of taking our message about children’s rights and the rehabilitation process to the people and he shall be their voice through music and other programmes we will be holding,” he said.

The 30-year-old artiste said he was humbled by the gesture and look forward to good working relations.
“I am very humbled and I thank this organisation for identifying my potential and I hope to work well with them.

“I know the issues that affect children since I grew up in an environment where they were mistreated so I will do my best to be their voice and ensure that they are assisted in getting out of danger,” he said.

Mahachi also said he recorded a song and video dedicated for children that will be released next week.
“I produced a song and a video for children that speaks against rape, gender based violence and crime and it will be on the market sometime next week,” he said.

CATCH serves to uphold human dignity of young people, ensuring that their needs are met in a safe and enabling environment that promotes gender equality.
Mahachi ventured into music in 2007 when he released his first album titled “Miyedzo” which was followed by “Kure” of 2010.

He is riding high with his latest single “Endai Naizvozvo”. He also has a popular single “Ndibvumbamirei” which features Afro jazz sensation Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana.
