Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya arrived here yesterday ahead of his first international two-day crusade expected to attract thousands of people.

Among the crowd that welcomed him at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, were traditional chiefs.

Prophet Magaya’s arrival coincided with Botswana’s President Day holiday and hundreds of people had an opportunity to witness his arrival.

Addressing journalists soon after giving a prayer at the venue, Prophet Magaya said he had made Botswana his first port of international crusades because he loved the country and wanted to build strong ties between the people of Botswana and Zimbabwe.

“It is our first international crusade, we are not here to form a church but to expand the ministry,” said Prophet Magaya.

“I love Botswana and we are here to spread the word and create a lasting friendship with them. Zimbabwe is becoming a great nation and if you see a prophet being honoured in this way and Chiefs dressed up for us, it is something great.

“I am informed that chiefs are respected here ahead of heads of Parliaments, it is a great honour accorded to me today,” said Prophet Magaya.

The crusade is to be held from today to July 4 at the Batlokwa Development Trust Stadium with thousands of people expected to attend.

More than 20 buses from Harare arrived on Tuesday and buses from South Africa, Swaziland and Namibia are expected to arrive today.

Speaking at the same platform, one of the chiefs, Albert Matlapey, said he was grateful to host Prophet Magaya and was looking forward to the success of the crusades. “I am happy to meet him and that is the reason we came all the way here. We are looking forward to the event and we are certain that we will never be the same,” he said.
