Hundreds of thousands of people on Friday braved the night to attend the “Night of Turnaround 6” hosted by Prophet Walter Magaya at the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries headquarters in Waterfalls.

The crowd included Government officials, sports personalities and diplomats, who gathered for the event where Prophet Magaya prayed for a turnaround in the lives of his congregants and Africa.

Regional and international delegates from countries that include South Africa, Botswana, Angola, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Swaziland were also part of the sea of people.

Foreign delegates said they travelled thousands of kilometres to Zimbabwe as they were inspired by PHD Ministries’ move to unite the global Christian community, to receive miracles and hear the word. Guest musicians included Andy Muridzo, Mathias Mhere, Killer T, Sulumani Chimbetu and Zimpraise.

The PHD Choir also belted out their songs which kept delegates on their feet.

Speaking to The Herald on the sidelines of the event, Prophet Magaya said this year’s occasion was a success as the number of delegates who attended had exceeded their expectations.

“Initially, we had anticipated that 280 000 people would attend and had provided chairs for that number,” he said. “But days before the event, we noticed we would exceed that number and had to bring more chairs from our church in South Africa to accommodate everyone.”

Prophet Magaya said his main message was for Africa to get economic empowerment and also prayed for the elimination of HIV and Aids, Ebola and poverty, which have crippled the continent.

He said prosperity would be coming soon to the continent and emphasised on the need for order and peace in Africa.

This, he said, would lead to the continent’s development.

As the night proceeded, he prayed for the sick, while those who had previously received miracles testified.

“Night of Turnaround 6 is the last to be held here as construction of our new church will begin soon, talking up space we are using for such events,” he said. “Next year, we will move to another venue.” The Ministry of Tourism, Hospitality Industry and Environment endorsed the PHD’s Night of Turnaround 6 as a significant contributor to the growth and success of the tourism sector and the economy at large through religious tourism.
