Chronicle Business Editor Mernat Mafirakurewa, who died in a horrific accident on Wednesday night along the Masvingo-Harare Highway, will be buried today at Warren Hills cemetery in Harare.
Mafirakurewa (33) was travelling from Bulawayo to Harare to cover the National Tourism Policy launch when the vehicle he was travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a South Africa-bound bus.

Family spokesperson Mr Lloyd Mugwira said a church service would be held at 10am at No. 475 Rydleridge Park, Harare before the burial.
“Soon after the church service we will proceed to Warren Hills Cemetery for the burial,” Mr Mugwira said.

A brief church service was held at Nyaradzo Funeral Parlour in Harare yesterday, before Mafirakurewa’s body was taken to his house in Rydleridge Park near Lake Chivero.

The body was accompanied by his wife Samukeliso, relatives and friends.
Mafirakurewa died on the spot near the 65-kilometre peg in Beatrice when a King Lion bus that was trying to overtake encroached into his lane.

A workmate he was travelling with, Sunday News senior business reporter Roberta Katunga, escaped with injuries and she is recovering at a private hospital in Harare.

The accident also claimed one passenger who was on the bus.
Mafirakurewa is survived by his wife Samukeliso and three children.
