Alick Macheso will tonight bid his fans farewell at a show at Ice and Fire Pamuzinda ahead of his tour of South Africa next week. The sungura master will share the stage with Peter Moyo in a show that will also celebrate the latter’s DVD “Mushonga Mukuru” that was launched last night. Macheso has travelled to South Africa several times this year and the upcoming show is likely to be his last across the Limpopo River before he goes on a festive season national tour.

The musician recently took back drummer Obert Gomba who had quit Orchestra Mberikwazvo to work with Extra Kwazvose.
Gomba returned to a rousing welcome from fans at a show at New Life Nightclub in Budiriro last week when he joined Macheso on stage around midnight.

Tonight Gomba is expected to make an official return to the starting line-up of the Orchestra Mberikwazvo team.
Macheso’s manager William Tsandukwa said they will have a busy schedule after their SA tour and they decided to bid their fans farewell in style. Macheso is expected to leave the country on Wednesday.

“After our tour of South Africa, we will have many shows across the country and we have decided to have this special event for our Harare fans. Ice and Fire Pamuzinda is now like our home ground. We stage big shows before leaving the country at the venue and we also use it for our come-back gigs. We encourage fans to come in their numbers and bid farewell to their star as he goes on a foreign mission,” said Tsandukwa.

On the other hand Moyo’s manager Sukol Dube said they will be celebrating the release of their DVD at the show.
“After releasing and launching the DVD today (yesterday), we are now on a mission to market it. We will celebrate its release with our fans at Pamuzinda and we will take it to other parts of the country in the coming weeks,” said Dube.

“We encourage our fans to come and get copies of the DVD at Pamuzinda. We have done good videos. We are looking forward to a good show because we have shared the stage with Macheso at the same venue on several occasions.”

Organiser of the show Josh Hozheri said they are always honoured to bid Macheso farewell at their venue when he goes on foreign tours.
“He has staged a number of farewell shows here and we now have a good relationship. Fans should encourage their musicians when they go on tours because they will be representing the country. We urge them to come and say ‘goodbye’ to Macheso and inspire him to do well on his journey,” said Hozheri.
