Despite announcing that he will set up a backyard recording studio at his house, sungura musician, Alick Macheso will record his next album with another studio it has emerged. His manager William Tsandukwa yesterday said plans are afoot for the musician to record his latest album at a local recording stable.

“We have everything for the studio but we cannot establish it now, but the probability that we might record it somewhere is high,” he said.
Tsandukwa refused to shed more light on the issue.

“The only reason why we have to record a new album soon is that we might end up being disturbed by pirates as they have already released our live show songs,” he said.

Last week pirates released an album “Chitsidzo” that had his live performances. Some of the songs that featured on the fake album are “Ane Bhora Ndiye Anomakwa” and “Gomo Iri Iguru.”

Sources close to the development said the musician would engage Diamond Studios to record his album and have the services of renowned producer, Bothwell Nyamondera.

“He is after Nyamondera and chances are that he might record his album at Diamond Studios since the producer’s contract (with the studio) does not allow him to do part time jobs,” said the source.

Tsandukwa however, insisted that he would not reveal the name of the stable they will work with.

“Macheso is unpredictable, he changes things on daily basis.  We cannot reveal the recording stable now and we will only announce it when the time comes,” said Tsandukwa.

He said the decisive meeting will be held on Monday next week.

“We are going to have a meeting on Monday where I am to establish the recording studio, but all I can say as of now is I am going to ask him to pay $25 per hour to record with another stable since we are losing the war on piracy.” he said.

This is not the first time the musician has been in a dilemma for a new album.

In 2008, the musician left Gramma Records for Mobile Music Trust in South Africa.

In 2012, the “Tafadzwa” hit maker returned established a recording stable “Last Power” with Laston Murerwa but the company’s fortunes plummeted after they failed to pay rentals in Msasa. Macheso announced that he would set a recording studio at his Waterfalls home to record his next album but he has now changed the plan. The sungura ace’s fans have been clamouring for a new album for some time now.
