“It’s 2015, man. We could all use some diversity”: Lupita Nyong’o reveals she is happy to use her “unique position” to inspire others as she dazzles in a fashion shoot. Her stunning features and gorgeous complexion, mixed with her acting prowess, saw her become the stand-out star during the 2014 awards season.

And Lupita Nyong’o has admitted that she is happy that her career path is allowing her to be an inspiration to others as she showcased her flawless beauty in a new magazine shoot.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar UK, the 32-year-old admitted: “It’s an impetus . . . It’s 2015, man. We could all use some diversity. I don’t feel like the responsibility I feel comes from any place other than my gut.”

She added: “I feel a responsibility to speak about certain things because I wish someone had spoken about them for me. I know I’m in a unique position where lots of people all over the world are seeing me and connecting with me, and perhaps because of my demographic and how limited representation is for my demographic, I do feel not a responsibility but an impetus to speak.

“It can get tedious to have to explain that I speak English because Kenyans speak English.”

Lupita looks gorgeous in the cover shot for the fashion magazine as she laughs at the camera wearing pink flowers in her hair and a large gold ring.

Another shot sees the actress in a dazzling red halterneck dress while she also kept things simple with a white strapless gown.

The Oscar-winning actress revealed that she did find public engagements emotionally straining at times as she said: “I wish that I took it more lightly sometimes because it costs a lot. Which is why I can’t do those speeches every weekend, because it costs a lot to share from such a deep place, if you will.”

The talented star, who is currently the face of Lancome Advance Genifiqu continued: “But I don’t know how to speak from any other place. Kenyans are very ceremonial.

“There is a formality that comes with gatherings and comes from our colonial conditioning.

“Oratory is something that’s really important to Kenyans, the way one speaks to the masses, it’s an art almost.”

Lupita’s career is set to continue rising as she has been working on Disney’s reboot of “The Jungle Book”, voicing the character Raksha, and she also stars in the highly-anticipated “Star Wars” reboot, Episode VII – “The Force Awakens”. – dailymail.
