TENNIS coach Juliet Sibanda, who accompanied a 12-member team of junior players for zonal qualifiers in South Africa, believes there is need to expose the youngsters to more competitions.

The tournament for the Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 began on January 9 and ended on Saturday with Zimbabwe finishing third behind South Africa and Madagascar.

Zimbabwe, who have always played second fiddle to South Africa, finished on that same spot behind South Africa and Mauritius last year.

Sibanda was the accompanying coach together with George Dzinoreva and feels local players lack exposure and experience. “Basically from my side for our juniors it is the exposure and experience that is lacking. We are not exposed to a lot of tournaments like South Africa.”
