14:45 Amai Mugabe finished her address by saying ‘people can say what they want but no weapon formed against us shall prosper. We are confident with our President.’

14:42 First Lady said she knows the problems faced by Bulawayo and will make sure that when the Chinese deals come through, the problems in Bulawayo and Matabeleland provinces will be the first to addressed.

14:35 Amai Mugabe told the gathering that President Mugabe does not belong to any faction .

14:33 She added; “People who divide the party should just go. They should not be given positions. I know that some were busy paying youths last night. You are busy following me when you have your own problems back home. Go solve your problems and stop your deeds immediately. I know some women are busy selling party regalia. That is very illegal, if you know anyone doing that tell us and we will deal with them. This regalia was sourced by President Mugabe.”

14:28 She said people continue fighting, they will embarrass the party come 2018 elections adding that even the 31 000 that voted for Zanu PF in Bulawayo might abandon it because the party would have failed to deliver on its promises.

14:24 The First Lady said people do not vote for MDC because they like it but  they do so in protest because they are tired of being told that ‘you fought and liberated the nation.’ She added; “Tell them how you will solve the problems. If I want I would have taken advantage of my position and destroyed the party by coercing people to vote for me but no, I have the party at heart. I don’t want to divide the party.”

14:17 She also accused of lying those saying there is no factionalism in Bulawayo. “You say there is no factionalism in Bulawayo but you are lying. Right now we have all these people wanting to be Vice President. That is the factionalism we are talking about,” she said.

14:14 Amai Mugabe said the day reckoning for Bulawayo has come adding that the party is sick and tired of being misled. We know that some of you did not want the Youth Games to be held in Bulawayo but the President insisted they come here.’

14:03 She said people use money to buy people but are not intelligent enough to take a self-introspection first before rushing to endorse themselves. ‘The problem is that when some people get into positions of leadership those positions get into their heads and they forget why and how they are in those positions.  Bulawayo has a lot of problems but you are fighting for positions when you are failing to solve problems in Bulawayo. First solve the problems in Bulawayo.’

13:56 Amai Mugabe says capable individuals will be given position and castigates some whom she said do not even have a vegetable garden but want to be Vice President. She urged people to consult first before rushing to make pronouncements that they are interested in positions. The First Lady also accused Bulawayo leadership of lacking respect for each other saying that is the reason why the province is losing elections. ‘You all want to be individuals. Please sit down and solve this chaos,’ she said.

13:52 “We must shun the imposition of candidates. No one will follow an imposed individual. Dr Nkomo (Late Vice President) is surely not happy because we are undoing what he did. The Bulawayo leadership will really trouble us. Honestly if we had unity of purpose we wouldn’t be having these five names being peddled around for the Vice Presidency post.”

13:45 Amai Mugabe says people should stop saying they are Zapu as that is retrogressive and does not bring development and urges that, instead, people should say we are one and work for the unity of purpose that was agreed on by ubaba uMugabe and ubaba uNkomo.

13:41 The First Lady denounces him Gamatox. ‘Phansi ngeGamatox,’ she says, much to the amusement of the crowd. She says Zanu PF Bulawayo leaders  had assured the party last year that they are going to reclaim all the seats but even to their shock, they lost all to MDC T.

13:17 Bulawayo Provincial Affairs minister Eunice Sandi-Moyo says that Bulawayo is faced with a lot of problems. The biggest problem is unemployment – “It’s disappointing that Bulawayo has been turned into a ghost town with some people preferring to just close down buildings and refusing to let them out to interested people. Those who rent out their buildings charge exorbitant fees. If people let their buildings lie idle we will find ways to take them.”

13:07  Prof Ndlovu says the Unity Accord signed between Zanu PF and PF Zapu in 1987 was not a transaction but a transformation adding that the party needs leaders with a vision as it cannot afford to babysit people without any vision.
