Liquid Telecom, a subsidiary of Econet Global, has been shortlisted for two prestigious global awards —  the World Communications and Capacity Awards.
The telecoms company is vying for the Best Wholesale Carrier category in the World Communications, alongside NTT, PCCW, Tata and TeliaSonera.

The World Communication Awards are organised by the publishers of Total Telecom and recognise the companies and individuals responsible for the innovations, achievements and great new services in the telecoms industry.

With an experienced panel of independent judges, the awards are open to all communications providers, whether they are a traditional carrier, service provider, multimedia content provider or another organisation providing a communication service.

In terms of the Capacity Awards, Liquid is vying for two awards — the Best African Wholesale Carrier together with Orange, PCCW Global and WIOCC and the Best Service Innovation against DE-CIX, iBasis, Global Capacity, and Telekom Austria Group.

According to Capacity magazine, the awards focus on the contribution of individuals, companies and technology partners that have excelled in the use, development and deployment of carrier services in the past 12 months.

The awards are independently judged by a panel of telecoms analysts, industry experts and the senior editorial team of Capacity magazine.
