South Africa house outfit Uhuru will headline the sixth edition of the Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival scheduled Glamis Arena tomorrow. Uhuru become the main act following Jamaican singer, Konshens’ withdrawal from the programme. Konshens, who was expected in Harare tomorrow, pulled out of the festival because the Jamaican government has warned artistes against travelling to Africa due to the Ebola outbreak in the continent.

Uhuru – famed for the hit “Y-tjukutja” – are expected in Harare tomorrow morning to share the stage with local artistes that include Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Tocky Vibes, Soul Jah Love, Shinsoman as well as Legendary Sound and Judgment Yard.

In a statement yesterday, organisers of the festival Delta Beverages said they would deliver a good package despite Konshens’ withdrawal.
“Owing to directives from the Jamaican government barring performing artistes from that country to any country on the African continent citing concerns over Ebola haemorrhagic fever, Koshens has cancelled his trip.

“Lion Lager remains committed to producing a brilliant show on the 11th of October 2014 (tomorrow). The festival activities and line up remain unchanged,” noted the organisers.
They expressed confidence in the line-up calling the artistes a group of tried and tested chanters.

To ensure safe and secure fun at the no-under-18 event, Delta Beverages have taken a zero tolerance stance on violence and misdemeanour.
As one of the stringent safety measures in line with international best practice at festivals, all beverages will be sold in specially produced plastic beer mugs.

Consequently, festival-goers will not be permitted to bring onto the site any bottles, cans or any other beverage container
Narcotics, weapons, glass, beverage containers from off the site and any other contraband material will not be permitted and stringent screening measures will be in place to enforce this requirement.

Entry will be at the price of $5 for ordinary tickets and $20 for VIP tickets.
The box office opens today at the Harare Gardens and Avondale Shopping Centre.
Tickets will also be available at various Delta Beverages distribution centres.
