SINGAPORE. — Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton insisted the Formula One World Championship was not on his mind, despite taking the lead for the first time in four months. The Briton moved three points ahead by winning the Singapore Grand Prix after team-mate Nico Rosberg retired.

“I’m not really thinking about it. I feel like I’m still hunting, still catching up,” he said.

This is the third time this season Hamilton has had to close a lead of more than a victory’s worth of points.

“I’m not sitting here thinking I’m relieved because all year I’ve had that gap and I’ve had to be catching it up and then it’s gone again. I know what could happen,” he added. — BBC Sport.
