The key to success includes setting goals and firmly fighting to achieve them

“Purpose is the engine room of life. It is what must fill and fuel the whole of man’s existence,” observes Matthew Ashimolowo in 100 percent Life Improvement. “Purpose makes life to be a deliberate act of God not an accident of creation. God had the dominion of this earth in mind when He made man.”

Everyone is celebrating the New Year, exchanging compliments of the new season with friends and relatives. It’s all joy around people welcoming 2015.

As happy as we are, facts are very stubborn; others are celebrating the good news and achievements which will shower upon their lives this coming year while others are just celebrating the bad news and new challenges waiting for them.

Life is a mixed bag, 2015 has its issues; some people are going to be promoted at work, strike new business deals, buy new things and achieve their goals while others will lose their loved ones, their jobs, businesses and fall short of their cherished goals.

If you are not very careful, you might be the one who is celebrating while you actually do not have anything to celebrate for.

The question for all of you celebrating is: are you ready for the New Year? Where ever you are, reading this text, I would like to tell you this: you definitely need to plan for this new season.

If you do not have plans then you do not know what you are celebrating for, you are just assuming that all is well yet you do not have anything promising for 2015.

At schools, teachers do have syllabuses and course outlines which will guide students so that they will only go through what is relevant for them to take the exams.

The same applies to us, in life we need a plan to follow so that we will concentrate on what is relevant for us to excel.

Our assignment on earth is not just living idle.

Our purpose is to be active, achieve in areas we are best at and play our part in life. Local business icon, Strive Masiiwa did his best at what he is good at and Econet Wireless stands to testify the actualisation of purpose.

His business is now inspiring many lives. Communication services are at an advanced level in Zimbabwe. This, largely owing to a man who had a plan which he really worked hard on to share with the world. Before others considered the possibility of everyone owning their own cellphone, he did.

You are also capable of inspiring many people like Strive did if you really work hard on what you are best at, starting right this 2015.

A sound minded person with five senses has no right to live an unplanned life.

A wise person sets goals and will firmly fight to achieve them. To those who have already planned, are you not the one who always plan to achieve the same goals each and every year but never achieve them?

If you are, do not repeat this year the mistakes of yesteryear.

Learn from your previous performance. Ask yourself how much time you spend working on your goals. Was the time enough for you to achieve your goals?

If Alessandro Volta the inventor of the first electric battery in 1800 was just working a few hours on his project and then excuse to be tired, then we could not have batteries for our radios and other electrical gadgets like we do today.

His battery model came out of long hours of concentration and that’s what we need in life, spending more hours on what we want to achieve.

Most people do not concentrate on their essentials in life, they are easily carried away and lack focus.

If you do not spend more time on your dreams, your life will amount to a sum total of failure.

You are what you repeatedly do. If you are not careful, failure will develop from an incident to your culture.

It is not surprising that potential failures are right now celebrating for another year – one in which they are probably bound to fail.

I do not wish anyone failure but excellence.

Be geared up for 2015. You are bound to earn what you exert. The 21-year old Tocky Vibes, currently the most popular artiste in the urban movement, spends time working on positive and entertaining music, earning himself more respect than his peers.

Plant more to reap plenty this year.

Make it a policy to be progressive in your mind and walk the talk.

God granted you the favour to be alive for a reason; this is an opportunity for you to further develop yourself.

Let what you failed to achieve in 2014 be your first achievement this year, turn your failure into strength by correcting your previous mistakes.

Challenge yourself; make it an aim to change whatever you can for the best and let the Lord do what you cannot.

Live each day at a time, making sure you utilise your time.

Stay away from whatever hinders achievement.

On the way, the journey of life is not always constant, enjoy the ups and have courage on the downs.

May the Lord bless you and your family so that you will achieve your goals and fulfil your purpose in 2015.
