Lupita Nyong’o was a towering presence with a skyscraper hairstyle on Monday at the Met Gala in New York City. The 33-year-old Oscar-winning actress embraced the Manus x Machina theme at the annual fundraiser in a seafoam green metallic gown that featured a long train. She added some flair with her ceiling-scraping hair that was styled up in stacked buns.

Lupita shimmered in her sleeveless gown with crisscross back straps and added more dazzle with dangling earrings, rings and a thick sparkling bracelet. She teamed up on the carpet with fellow actresses Margot Robbie and Emma Watson.

Lupita also caught up with actors Michael B Jordan and Nate Parker at the annual fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The “12 Years A Slave” star recently made her Broadway debut in the hit show “Eclipsed” written by “The Walking Dead” star Danai Gurira.

Lupita portrays the unnamed fourth wife of a Liberian warlord in “Eclipsed”. U2 frontman Bono (55) took in the Broadway show on Saturday and joined Lupita and the cast as they remembered missing schoolgirls abducted in Nigeria.

Lupita, Bono and the cast during the curtain call at Manhattan’s Golden Theatre honoured the 219 missing youngsters who were abducted in Chibok two years ago. “They were taken from their high school 747 days today. If they were American or Irish girls, we’d get a daily report,” Bono told theatre-goers.

Lupita also voices the wolf mother Raksha in Disney’s blockbuster “The Jungle Book” that has earned more than $688 million at the worldwide box office since its release in mid-April. – www.dailymail.co.zw
