The Herald website has been nominated in the Best News Website category for the Zimbabwe Digital Conference and Awards ceremony which will be held on March 16.

The other nominees are NewsDay, DailyNews, Financial Gazette, ZBC, ZiFM, Techzim, TechnoMag and StarFM.

The aim of the awards is to support and encourage the country’s online marketing publications which most countries around the globe are developing.

The Zimpapers Group has a number of online publications which include SportsZone, Bh24 and NewsHub.

Digital Conference and Awards business development manager, Mr Josphat Katiyo, said in an interview the awards were an important part of the digital conference.

“Our thrust is to unpack digital marketing and advertisement. Zimbabwe is not yet up to speed when it comes to digital marketing and communication.

“As such the conference seeks to equip marketers with the basic skills on this front and on how best they can monetise their digital platforms for the betterment of their organisations,” he said.

The event is expected to be attended by 360 delegates who include marketers and CEOs.

“We also seek to equip the delegates with skills to monetise their social media platforms, how they can protect their brands and companies from damaging social media activities such as WhatsApp messages sent to masses speaking negatives and lies about them,” said Mr Katiyo.

The Zimbabwe Digital Marketing Conference and Awards is a platform that offers Zimbabwean professionals an opportunity to learn the basic skills in digital marketing and it addresses the key elements of a successful digital marketing.

The event is being organized by Starligem Marketing, a digital consulting company incorporated in 2012. The company is involved in in-house training, conferencing and digital event management.
