ZIMBABWE national Under-21 korfball coach Percy Samugadza has announced his 21-member provisional team to play in the World Cup qualifiers next month.

The World Cup will be held in South Africa next year.

Southern Africa has been alloted one slot in addition to the hosts.

Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana and Mozambique will battle it out in a winner-takes-all tournament scheduled for South Africa in August. The qualifying games will be played in Pretoria at the same venues which will host the World Cup.

Samugadza yesterday said he was confident his team will grab the sole ticket to the World Cup as he had chosen the best players to do the job.

“I think I have selected the best Under-21 players on land.

“I am sure they will deliver the goods, they have the hunger to succeed and they are ready to qualify the nation for the World Cup showpiece,” he said.

Samugadza lamented the lack of a running korfball league in the country saying the situation leaves national team coaches with limited selection options. He said most players he included in the provisional team are those who shone in a national tournament held in Mutare early this month.
