KIEV. – Wladimir Klitschko’s brother says the heavyweight champion is now unbeatable and improving with age. “I don’t see anyone in the world who can beat him,” the 43-year-old Vitali Klitschko said. This followed Wladimir’s victory over Kubrat Pulev on Saturday night. “Age is just making him stronger.” Vitali, a three-time former heavyweight champion, was in his younger brother’s corner in Hamburg when a sharp left hook from the IBF, WBO, IBO and WBA champion knocked Pulev down for the fourth time to end the bout two minutes and 11 seconds into the fifth round.

Vitali, now mayor of Kiev in the Ukraine, said his 38-year-old sibling had no peers in the division.
Wladimir’s manager, Bernd Boente, said the champion’s next defence was scheduled for April, either in Germany or the United States.
Possible opponents are unbeaten American Bryant Jennings, the winner of the fight on November 29 between Britons Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury, or the winner of the WBC title fight between champion Bermane Stiverne and mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder of the United States.

Klitschko completely dominated the fight to earn the 54th knock-out and 63rd victory of his professional career. The last of his three defeats was more than a decade ago.
The 33-year-old Pulev was made to pay for his pre-fight statements when he described Klitschko as behaving “like a girl” and saying he “has no heart”.
After being knocked down twice in the first round and once in the third before the knock-out punch, Pulev still said Klitschko had been “lucky”.

“I have never seen such arrogance from an opponent and there was a price to pay for that,” said Klitschko. “I don’t think he realised he was playing in the champions league.”
After the tournament, Klitschko flew to Nashville in the US in the early hours of the morning to be with his girlfriend, TV actress Hayden Panettiere, who is expecting their first baby next month.

“The baby is almost there, I hope I don’t miss it, because I really want to experience my own child being born,” said the proud father-to-be.
Klitschko does not want to take a long break from boxing after the birth. He is closing in on legendary Joe Louis’ record of 25 heavyweight title defences. – AFP.
