Unheralded king . . . Zim dancehall rising star Kinnah thrilled fans at the “Zim Has Got Talent” gig held at Longcheng Plaza on New Year’s Eve

Zim dancehall rising star Kinnah raised the bar when he performed at the “Zim Has Got Talent Champions Night” held over the weekend at Longcheng Plaza.Kinnah who shared the stage with Seh Calaz, Killer T, Leonard Mapfumo and the Zim has Talent top 10 finalists put up a sterling performance which left revellers in awe.

The Mbare-bred chanter did not waste time on stage and churned out tune after tune to which the crowd sang along.

He belted some of his hits including “Stodart” and “Amai Mwana Vhura door” much to the delight of the audience.

People could be seen dancing and singing along with him such that the showers that fell during his set did not dampen the merry mood.

In separate interviews, fans appreciated Kinnah’s talent with some even calling him the “unheralded king of Zim Dancehall”.

“This young man is talented, we do not know what is really going on in his career but honestly he knows his music,” Tendai Matibenga from Glen Norah said. Some also hailed him for his clean lyrics and anti-violence campaign songs. He left the stage around midnight for Seh Calaz the “Mabhanditi” boss who maintained the celebratory mood.

Seh Calaz belted out some of his hits including ‘‘Kwatinobva kwakasiyana Siyana’’, “Mangoromera” and “Mboko Imboko” among others.

After Seh Calaz then came Killer T who kept revellers on their feet with his energetic performance.

Urban groover Leornard Mapfumo also gave a polished act and Star FM’s Phatisani Sibanda wrapped up the show.

Commenting on the overall performances, “Zim Has Got Talent” public relations personnel Rumbidzai Matinanga said they were overwhelmed by the performances from all the artistes.

“We are happy that the event was successful though we feared that people might not turn up because of the rains which stopped around 10pm. The venue was filled to capacity within a short period of time,

We are also happy that the “Zim Has Got Talent” artistes are also growing and this year they are going to be bigger and better.

“All the artistes who performed gave a performance to remember and also Star FM’s DJs Nikki and Phathisani thrilled fans when they wrapped up the show with tune after tune,” she said.

Some of the “Zim Has Got Talent” finalists are set to tour China in March this year for a cultural exchange programme.
