The talk doing the rounds in town is that Mbare-based chanter, Killer T is running out of steam.
Zimbabwe dancehall music fanatics could really feel the absence of the talented chanter whose silence is ‘‘heartbreaking’’ and has raised questions on whether his music ship is sinking already.

Killer T is widely known for the ‘‘po-po-po-po’’ signature style which has gone viral with his fans nation-wide.

He became the darling of many in the Zim dancehall fraternity and for the greater part of 2013 he was enjoying a purple patch when his music received heavy rotation in pubs among other public areas.

His involvement in the tightly contested dancehall arena is believed to be behind the rise of several Mbare-bred chanters, producers and studios from Harare’s oldest ghetto.

The big question right now among dancehall fans and his followers is whether Killer T’s romance with music is withering already? This came following recent indications showing his inconsistence and less talk of his involvement on the dancehall scene.

At the moment the most talked about chanters include controversial Soul Jah Love, Shinsoman, Seh Calaz, Tocky Vybez and not forgetting Winky D who some critics say is incomparable with any of the rising chanters.

“Chairman”, as Killer T is widely known as on the music scene, was known for consistently releasing equally good singles every week, a move which landed his music producer Levels of Chill Spot Records based in Mbare an accolade.

Killer T said he was on top of his game and would not know of the gap between him and other chanters.

“Kwese kwavakaenda takakuenda zvamunongoziva wani, ini saChairman zvinoreva kuti palead ndini ndiripo and hakuna mumwe Chairman mumimhanzi (No one is above me as I have been to places and the only Chairman on the music fraternity).

“KuGheto kwese ngoma rangu rinocheka masettings saka zvamurikutaura makazvinzwa kupi? Chitobvunzai nezve kuchando kwandiri kudzokera manje manje,” said Killler T.

Chill Spot Records co-founder Fantan admitted that things are not really well in Killer T’s camp, but vowed that he will soon reclaim his position as the dancehall poster boy.

“I must say at the moment Killer T is not at his best ever since he stopped recording songs on daily basis.  ‘Chairman’ of course is among the names of chanters who managed to put Mbare on the music map following a successful 2013.

“Hapana panotaurwa mazita mumangoma ukasanzwa Chairman vachichecker masettings (No one can talk of Zim Dancehall heavy weights leaving out Killer T’s name). He is coming back soon,” stressed Fantan.
